All-American Bowl Game Dandy Dozen
Maxey Weekly Awards
Week #12 - November 12-14

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana
- I am pleased to announce the AABG Dandy Dozen Maxey Award Players of the Week.

SUPER OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

 1. RB Andy Erickson, 5-10, 180, 4.42, 36 VJ, 3.99 SH, 117 SBJ, Austin Lake Travis, Texas - Erickson didn't carry the football very many times, but he still scored four touchdowns as his Lake Travis team won their 41st straight game and now have a 11-0 record for this year. All of his touchdowns were in the first half as he caught a screen pass from quarterback Michael Brewer and ran 70 yards for a touchdown. His touchdown runs were of 1, 2, and 25 yards. Lake Travis (11-0, 41 Straight) will play the winner of the San Antonio Jefferson and Schertz Steele on November 21 in the Alamodome.  2010 WEST

2.
ATH/QB Jeremy Johnson, 6-0, 180, 4.4, 38 VJ, 4.16 SH, 120 SBJ, Tyler John Tyler, TX - Johnson was sensational again against Copperas Cove in the Playoffs. The fast-paced offense of John Tyler appeared to be back on track after totaling 90 points against DeSoto and Cove. They rolled up a season-high 593 yards of offense versus Cove, with Johnson rushing for 241 yards on 20 option-keepers and three touchdowns in the win. 2010 WEST

DANDY DOZEN AABG MAXEY PLAYERS OF THE WEEK #12

1. RB/SS Collin Ellis, 6-0, 205, 4.5, Baton Rouge The Dunham School, Louisiana - Ellis was sensational in defeat on Friday night, but his team lost to Shreveport Calvary Baptist in the first round of the 2A Playoffs by a 52-27 score. Ellis rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries on offense and he returned an interception 98 yards for another touchdown. Teammate Tre Celestine scored on a 3 yard touchdown run. Ellis, used mostly as a fullback on offense, finished his senior season with 998 rushing yards, 14 touchdowns, and a 6.01 yards per carry average. Ellis is a very hard-hitting strong safety and he has already given the Northwestern Wildcats a verbal committment.  2010 EAST

2. ATH/QB Ronald Martin, 6-3, 180, 4.4, 38 VJ, 4.2 SH, White Castle, Louisiana - Martin ran for 149 yards on 17 option-keepers and scored a touchdown on a 10-yard run in the second quarter. He also  threw for two more touchdowns as White Castle UPSET St Martin's by a 22-9 score in the first round of the 1A playoffs.
2011 EAST

3. P/DE/TE John Shepard, 6-3, 225, 4.6, Saint James, Louisiana - Sometimes when you go to a football game to see a particular player play, it is always very exciting when you find another player who has some exceptional talent, but who is "Flying Under the Recruiting Radar" with college coaches. This happened to me on Friday night. Out of all of the first round playoff games in the State of Louisiana that I could have attended, I chose to attend the Brusly and Saint James game to check-out a Saint James junior wide receiver by the name of Alonzo Lewis (6-3, 195, 4.4) who already had an offer from LSU. When Saint James came out for their pre-game warmups, #27 (Lewis) stood out like a sore thumb, but as I started watching warmups, #19 also started to stand out. Then #19 started his punting drills and he consistantly kicked a spiral and it was always turning over, about fifty to sixty yards down the field. As the game started, #19 was the starting tight end, defensive end, and punter. Then on the first offensive series for Brusly, their runing back hit a brick-wall at the line of scrimmage and lost the football. As the football seemed to hang on the ground for about two or three seconds, #19 picked the ball-up and raced about 30 yards for the touchdown. The announcer announced that John Shepard has just scored for Saint James to tie the game at 7-7. On his first two punts in the first half, Shepard was credited with a 63 yard punt. I had seen enough. I went to the Saint James sideline and gave one of my long-time scouts an invitation to give John Shepard to play in the 2010 All-American Bowl Game Classic. For the game, Shepard boomed four kicks for 198 yards and a fabulous 49.5 yards per punt average. Oh yes, #27 was a man among boys. If he stays healthy, Anthony Lewis, who caught some key passes in the game, will be playing on Sunday some day. 2010 EAST

4A. FB Jason Cormier, 5-10, 190, 4.5, 38 VJ, 4.21 SH, 120 SBJ, Lago Vista, Texas - Cormier rushed for 117 yards on 33 carries in a crushing 21-14 Bi-District loss to Hempstead in Overtime. The greatest season in the short history of the Lago Vista football program came down to inches — six of them, to be exact. The Vikings came up just short Friday night on a fourth-and-one in overtime. The heart-breaking loss brought an end to a season that featured Lago Vista's first District 25-2A championship. Cormier finished his senior season with 1,671 rushing yards on 208 carries for a 8.03 yards per carry average and 19 touchdowns. The 25-AA All District Team was announced and Cormier won District Offensive MVP and DE Austin Terry was named District Defensive MVP.
2010 WEST

4B. DE Austin Terry (6-2, 220, 4.56, 36 VJ, 4.2 SH) will be a Hybrid End next year as a senior. The Texas 25-AA All District Team was announced and Cormier won District Offensive MVP and Terry was named District Defensive MVP. Terry has already been selected to play in the 2011 All-American Bowl Game Classic. 2011 WEST

5. WR Marquis Maze, 5-9, 180, 4.3, Birmingham Tarrant, Alabama and University of Alabama - Maze caught four passes for 55 yards, as the Crimson Tide beat Mississippi State by a 31-3 score. 2007 EAST

6. RET Phillip Livas, 5-8, 170, 4.23, Houma South Terrebonne, Louisiana and Louisiana Tech University - Livas returned three kickoffs for 65 yards, including a 40 yarder, but it was not enough as the LSU Tigers won in a close 24-16 battle. Livas also caught three passes for 19 yards, giving him 84 All-Purpose yards against one of the top defensive teams in the country. Livas has six career kickoff returns for a touchdown for the Bulldogs. 2007 WEST

 7
. DT LaCraig Brown, 6-5, 275, 4.9, 36 VJ, 4.87 SH, 106 SBJ, 32 REPS, Monroe Richwood, Louisiana - Brown has been outstanding all season in leading his team into the 3A playoffs. On Friday night, Brown recorded seven tackles of which two of the tackles were for a loss as his team UPSET Kaplan by a 36-15 score. They will now play #4 Ranked E.D. White at home in the Reginal playoffs.  2010 EAST

8. CB Tyrone Bouie, 6-0, 170, 4.42, 32 VJ, 4.2 SH, Sanford Seminole, FL - Bouie is playing on the defending 5A Florida State Championship team and they won their playoff game last Friday by a 49-13 score over Lake Howell. Bouie, who on Friday, committed to the Minnesota Gophers, recorded three tackles and three key pass bat-downs in the victory.
2010 EAST

9. WR Kenny Brown, 5-11, 175, 4.4, 38 VJ, 4.2 SH, Lake Charles St Louis, LA - Brown caught six passes for 118 yards and an 18 yard touchdown as his team beat Baton Rouge Woodlawn by a 24-20 score. St Louis will now travel to play #1 Ranked Lutcher. 2010 EAST

10. ATH/K Denver Otteson, 5-9, 175, 4.59, Tonopah, Nevada - Otteson had 109 yards rushing and 39 yards passing. He also had a 69 yard punt in the game and averaged 44.3 yards on his 4 punts. 2010 WEST

11. TE/DE Kegan Funderburk, 6-4, 260, 4.7, 36 VJ, Pageland Central, SC - Funderburk was sensational again on Friday night as he recorded 10 tackles; had three quarterback sacks; and three other tackles behind the line of scrimmage. 2010 EAST

12. CB Antoine Lewis, 5-11, 175, 4.3, 36 VJ, 4.16 SH, 115 SBJ, Maywood Proviso East, Illinois - Lewis is a fabulous two-way exciting player who has been outstanding for the last two years on both sides of the footbal. He finished this season on Friday night. He finished his last two years with over 1,700 pass receiving yards, 16 touchdowns, 80 tackles, 7 forced fumbles, 6 interceptions, and 20 pass breakups.  2010 EAST
